Networking Tools
Tools for IPv4 subnet calculations and for understanding how HTTP redirects behave, including redirect chains and loops, and for checking how a public page's metadata appears when its link is shared.
Available networking tools
CIDR Calculator
Calculate subnet info from an IPv4 CIDR block.
Redirect Chain Analyzer
Analyze URL redirects, detect redirect chains and loops, and inspect HTTP status behavior.
Open Graph & Social Preview Analyzer
Check Open Graph tags, Twitter/X Cards, social images and link previews for any public webpage.
What networking tools cover
Networking questions that reach application developers are usually small and concrete: how many addresses does this block hold, does it overlap the one next to it, and why does this URL end up somewhere unexpected? The live tools in this category answer those, and a fourth question: how will this page look when someone shares its link?
The CIDR Calculator does IPv4 subnet arithmetic and shows the binary reasoning behind it, which is useful when planning a VPC or checking a firewall rule. The Redirect Chain Analyzer looks at how a URL redirects, finds chains and loops, and explains the status codes involved, which matters for both performance and search engine crawling. The Open Graph & Social Preview Analyzer fetches a public page and shows its Open Graph and Twitter/X Card tags, social images, canonical and robots metadata, and approximate link previews, which is a check of how a URL is presented and fetched rather than of a network.
Common tasks
- Find the network address, broadcast address and usable host range of a CIDR block.
- Check how many hosts a prefix length provides before you choose it.
- Trace a URL's redirects and find chains, loops or temporary redirects that should be permanent.
- Check HTTP to HTTPS and www to non-www behaviour.
- Check the Open Graph and Twitter/X Card tags, social image and canonical URL of a public page, and preview how its link may look when shared.
Who uses these tools
- Cloud and platform engineers planning address space
- Developers and SEOs debugging redirects after a migration
- Students learning subnetting
When to use each tool
- CIDR Calculator
- Use it to turn a CIDR block into network, broadcast, mask and host range, and to see the binary split between network and host bits.
- Redirect Chain Analyzer
- Use it to see where a URL really ends up, or paste curl output to analyse a chain without contacting the site.
- Open Graph & Social Preview Analyzer
- Use it to see how a public page may look when shared, and to find missing or inconsistent Open Graph, Twitter/X Card, image and canonical metadata.

Frequently asked questions
- Does the CIDR Calculator support IPv6?
- No. It works with IPv4 CIDR notation.
- Does the Redirect Chain Analyzer send my URL anywhere?
- In URL mode your browser requests the address you enter directly; DevCraftKit does not proxy or store it. Some sites block that kind of request from a web page, so a Manual Chain mode analyses curl output you paste, without contacting the site.
- Does the Open Graph & Social Preview Analyzer send my URL anywhere?
- Yes. Browsers cannot read other websites' pages, so the public URL you enter is sent to DevCraftKit's server, which fetches the page and its social images, returns the analysis and does not store it. Private and internal addresses are refused.
- Why can't it always show every redirect hop?
- Browsers do not expose each hop of a redirect to web pages. The analyzer reports what it can observe and says when it cannot see more.
- What is the difference between a subnet mask and a prefix length?
- They express the same thing. A /24 prefix and the mask 255.255.255.0 both mean the first 24 bits identify the network. The guides linked on this page explain the conversion.
